Abstract
The article examines environmental issues and environmental protection, which remain highly relevant in the context of modern industrial development. Special attention is paid to the role of eco-innovations as one of the key directions for reducing the negative environmental impact of industrial production. Various approaches to the definition of the concept of “eco-innovations,” presented in the works of domestic and foreign authors, are analyzed, and their significance for achieving sustainable development is revealed.
Based on the generalization of scientific views, the authors propose an original definition of eco-innovations as the result of developing ideas aimed at forming environmentally friendly industrial production processes. It is noted that the environmental situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan is characterized by systemic and large-scale problems, which is confirmed by the analysis of key environmental indicators.
In this regard, the necessity of active implementation of eco-innovations in the industrial sector is emphasized as an important tool for improving the environmental condition of the country.
